In the late 1960s scientists discovered that by pairing wavelength-specific ultraviolet energy with properly formulated chemistry, predictable and repeatable photochemical polymerization occurs. The result is called UV curing; a green, easy, fast and efficient technology with great potential and appeal for today’s industrial manufacturing processes.
UV curing technology significantly improves the chemical and mechanical properties of coatings, adhesives, and inks. The technology provides instant polymerization, allows for formulations with little or no VOCs, drastically reduces the energy and space requirements of production lines and equipment, and simplifies the production process. UV curing technology is suitable to all kinds of substrates and shapes, and in general it substantially reduces overall production costs.
